Caritas Village is a new development in the City of Santa Rosa filling a critical need for unhoused neighbors. Made up of a housing-focused service center, emergency family shelter, and 128 units of permanent, affordable housing, Catholic Charities of Santa Rosa and non-profit housing developer Burbank Housing the facility will open in late 2022.
The two project partners selected Civic Edge to support community engagement as the team worked through the public approval process. Civic Edge developed comprehensive messaging, created multilingual collateral, conducted media training for project team members, and built a multilingual website. Our team focused the project’s early messaging around its long-term contribution to easing the crisis of homelessness in Sonoma County.
To get the word out early and position Caritas Village as an integral part of the community, our team kicked off outreach with a door-to-door to engage everyone living and working within a quarter-mile of the project site.
