Marin County Energy

Solar + Electric Vehicle Charge Grand Opening

Celebrating Clean Energy

Background

Marin County Energy (MCE) provides electricity service and cutting-edge energy programs to more than one million residents and businesses in 37 communities across four Bay Area counties. In 2019, MCE hired Civic Edge to support event planning for the Solar Charge Grand Opening, the official launch for solar powered electric vehicle charging stations open to the public at the MCE San Rafael office.

Approach

The Civic Edge team managed all event logistics for the Solar + Electric Vehicle Charge Grand Opening, from invitations and media relations to collateral and brand development and day-of support. Goals for the grand opening were to host a fun and educational community event, showcasing that no matter what mode of transit we are using, it is possible to go electric. Day-of features included a ribbon cutting and short speeches to allow for more “behind the scenes” looks by attendees with a tour of the charge station and one-on-one conversations with MCE staff and partner organizations to learn more about electric vehicles and solar energy.

Focus on the Moment

An estimated 115 participants attended the grand opening. Local media coverage and social media posts by MCE partners shared the highlights with a broader audience. A full suite of graphics, from digital posters advertising the event to name tags and directional signage, created by Civic Edge gave the day a distinctive look and feel within the MCE brand. The selection of graphics were chosen to support a smooth coordination of the day’s activities to keep all attendees’ focus on celebrating the moment.
